A team of the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) visited the Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU) of IME Division, Ministry of Planning, to know about electronic government procurement (e-GP) system on January 16, 2017.
The CPTU is implementing e-GP as part of the government vision for building a Digital Bangladesh.
They exchanged views on e-GP with officials of CPTU with its Director (Coordination) and Joint Secretary Md. Helal Uddin in the chair.
The KOICA team comprised Jaekyoung Son, the Head of Strategic Planning Division, Chief Consultant Yeonjin Kim and Senior Consultant Daeyoung Yoon.
Director (Training and Rules) Md. Wahedun-Nabi Sarker, Training Coordinator KM Ali Newaz, System Analyst Md Mosharraf Hussain, Assistant Director Md.Shahadat Hossain Masud, Assistant Maintenance Engineer Sheikh Shariful Islam, Senior e-GP Consultant Ashfakul Islam, System Administrator Mohammed Zumshedul Abedin Chowdhury and Communications Consultant Md. Shafiul Alam of CPTU were present during the meeting.
The KOCIA is implementing a project for "Establishment of the e-Government Master Plan for Digital Bangladesh" for the ICT Division.
The opinion-exchange meeting was part of its assessment of the prevailing policy and ICT environment in different ministries and agencies of the government of Bangladesh. Knowing more about ICT interfaces, inter-connectivity as well as related policies, rules and regulations, procedures and future plans was also on agenda.
Mujibul Haque, Joint Secretary, ICT Division and Md. Zafurul Alam Khan, Senior Programmer of Bangladesh Computer Council, were also present during the meeting.
The Director (Coordination) of CPTU welcomed the KOICA team and briefed about CPTU and its activities. The System Analyst made a presentation on the operation of the e-GP system and its progress.
Senior e-GP Consultant and Security Assurance Consultant explained various features of e-GP and security aspects. The Communications Consultant touched upon how CPTU is popularizing e-GP through communications and engagement of various stakeholders including citizens in dialogues on public procurement issues.
The KOICA team also inquired about training and capacity building of tenderers and procuring entities. The Director (Coordination) informed them of the steps CPTU has taken up in this regard. They mentioned that KOICA is keen on extending support to the inter-operability of the e-GP system and their e-Government Master Plan for Digital Bangladesh. |
