Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) is a government agency which is responsible for the development, maintenance, operation and control of IWT system in the country. Inland waterways have become the very important cheaper mode to maintain transport link between various remote parts of the country. In modern Bangladesh, eco-friendly river port in inland waterways is a development as well as promotional challenges. To minimize these challenges BIWTA has planned to provide different eco-friendly facilities in the river port area for encouraging the visitors. ‘Establishment of an Eco River Port at Shimulia, Munshiganj’ is one of those initiatives of BIWTA. Shimulia Inland River port gazetted on 28-03-2016. It links the capital to 21 districts in the South-West part of the country. Even if the Padma Bridge is open there will be a demand for ferry for the transportation of goods-laden vehicles. Everyday many people visit this place to see the beauty and the vastness of the Padma River. But shortage of eco-friendly facilities they are insecure and facing many problems. In Shimulia point at the bank of the river Padma, BIWTA has 29.31acre land for the purpose of Office Building, Parking Yard, Dredger Bays and Launch Ghat. After opening the Padma Bridge by this year, the scope of activities of BIWTA in that area may be reduced. So approximately15-18 acres land will be unused. Due to proper use of these valuable land and rosy prospect of eco-friendly river port in captivating Padma River and the Padma Bridge, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has planned to conduct a Feasibility study for Establishment of an eco-river port at Shimulia, Munshiganj. This Feasibility study report and recommendations can serve to develop project specific guidelines for BIWTA. |
| Experience, Resources and Delivery Capacity Required |

• Similar work experience of the consultants in assignments of similar complexity. (Have to provide services name, service objective and output).
• Evidence of successful completion of riverine tourism related consultancy services within a period of last 05 (five) years (Award or contract agreement and completion certificate should be submitted).
• Evidence of successful completion of River Port Feasibility study consultancy services without sub consultancy within a period of last 05 (five) years (Award or contract agreement and completion certificate should be submitted).
• Availability of long-term morphological prediction modeling tools.
• A list of personnel with qualifications, experience and association with the Consultant (but no CV at this stage).
• Corporate Capacity of the Consultants (Annual Turnover, Financial Information for last 5 years, but no audited financial statements at this regard).
• Updated VAT & Tax certificate; logistic supports etc. to be submitted.
• Evidence of permanent office premises in Bangladesh (ownership document should be submitted).
• General Work Experience of the Consultants.
• Business Objective and Expertise of the Consultants. |
