The Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU) of the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division under the Ministry of Planning signed a contract for development of procurement core competence skills and accreditation program with the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS), UK, at the Conference Room of the IMED in the city on Monday.
Amulya Kumar Debnath, Director Genral of CPTU and Chris Gallagher, Director of Customer Development of CIPS, signed the contract on their respective sides. The CIPS in association with National School of Government(NSG), UK and the Institute of Governance Studies(IGS) of BRAC University, Bangladesh, will develop and implement a procurement core skills enhancement program; design and introduce a procurement and accreditation program; design and implement institutional capacity enhancement program on procurement.
The contract will last until March, 2013 under the Public Procurement Reform Project –II supported by the World Bank and being implemented by the CPTU. The top performers in the three-week residential courses on public procurement at the Engineering Staff College, Bangladesh, will also be offered higher studies in the UK under the contract.
