Title : Call to engage third-party in public procurement process
Description : FE Report The stakeholders of public procurement from both the public and the private sectors have laid emphasis on creating scope for third-party engagement in the process of public procurement. The members of the Public-Private Stakeholders Committee (PPSC) on public procurement at its fourth meeting in the city Sunday made the observation. Representatives from business and bidding community, think-tanks, civil society, media and the government officials attended the meeting with Planning Minister Air Vice Marshal (retd) AK Khandker in the chair. Organised by the Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU) of IME Division, the meeting was facilitated by the Institute of Governance Studies (IGS) of the BRAC University under the Public Procurement Reform Project-II supported by the World Bank. Secretary of the Economic Relations Division Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, Secretary of the IME Division Md Habib Ullah Majumder, Director General of CPTU Amulya Kumar Debnath and IGS Director Dr Rizwan Khair were present on the occasion. IGS presented two papers in the meeting and Shafiqul Alam Bhuiyan, President of Bangladesh Association of Construction Industry made a presentation on private sector participation in the government procurement process. Representatives from the Centre for Policy Dialogue, FBCCI, BRAC, Bangladesh Association for Consulting Engineers, PDB, REB, Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, TIB, Bangladesh Association of Construction Industry, RAJUK and PWD took part in the discussion.
