Brief Description of Assignment |
: |
"The scope of the assignment typically includes, but not be limited to, the following:
Duties and Responsibilities: The MHPS will report to the ISO Project Director and work closely with the PIU and implementing agencies. The scope of the assignment includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Needs Assessment:
• Conduct comprehensive assessments of mental health and psychosocial needs within host and FDMN communities especially GBV survivors in Chattogram division.
• Identify gaps in existing services and recommend strategies for improvement.
Intervention Planning and Implementation:
• Develop and implement tailored intervention plans to meet the specific needs of beneficiaries especially GBV survivors.
• Provide individual and group counseling sessions, psychosocial education, and support as per need in OCC and other GBV response service centers.
Service Facilitation:
• Facilitate access to mental health services and resources for GBV survivors within host and FDMN communities in Chattogram Division.
• Ensure the integration of mental health services into existing community mobilization activities GBV prevention and response.
Collaboration and Coordination:
• Collaborate with PIU, UNFPA, helpline center for GBV response services, local organizations, NGOs and government agencies to strengthen mental health and psychosocial support systems in Chattogram division.
• Coordinate with other project components to ensure holistic service delivery for GBV prevention and Response.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of interventions, adjusting strategies as necessary.
• Prepare and contribute to regular project reporting on mental health and psychosocial wellbeing.
Capacity Building:
• Conduct training sessions for local staff, MoWCA officials, Helpline operators, and stakeholders to enhance their capacity in providing psychosocial support.
• Develop resource materials and guidelines for effective service delivery." |
Experience, Resources and Delivery Capacity Required |

"Qualification and Experience
An ideal candidate for the position of Mental Health and Psychosocial Specialist should possess the following qualifications and experience:
• A masters degree in psychology or in a related discipline.
• Professional certification or licensure as a counselor, therapist, or mental health practitioner.
• At least 7 years of experience working in the field of mental health and psychosocial support, preferably in humanitarian or development settings.
• Demonstrated expertise in conducting psychosocial assessments and providing counseling and psychotherapy especially to Gender Based Violence (GBV) survivors, and implementing community-based interventions for GBV response and prevention.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Fluency in English and Bangla is highly desirable." |
