INFORMATION FOR APPLICANT

| Brief Description of Assignment |
: |
1) An updated Biodiversity and Ecosystem Resource Mapping with identification of Hotspots for Conservation and Restoration (this deliverable is needed to support the project to identify and quantify the exact places/areas where habitat restoration such as, Swamp plantation along the Strip of Kanda, Swamp Plantation towards Beel Habitat Restoration, Silted-up Channel and Beels to Restore (through Manual Re-excavation and Silt Removal), Sanctuaries to be Developed and conserved for Mother Fish and Other Aquatic Biodiversity, identify of one beel for rehabilitation/Restoration, areas suitable for Reed Swamp Restoration and areas of critical bird and aquatic habitat restoration).
2) Revisit and update the baseline information in terms of biological diversity and physical resources of Tanguar Haor.
3) Assess the valuation of ecosystem services for Tanguar Haor ecosystem. Provide a cost-benefit analysis for conservation interventions.
4) Baseline information collection and database development on socio-economic condition of beneficiaries and Natural Resources (NR) dependent local community. Developed a structured database on livelihoods, resource dependency and socio-economic condition.
5) Prepare a Conservation Management Plan for Tanguar Haor Wetlands considering the latest resource mapping and valuation of ecosystem. Conservation Management Plan (CMP) for Tanguar Haor, incorporating: updated biodiversity and resource maps; ecosystem valuation findings; climate change adaptation strategies; sustainable fisheries, livestock, agriculture, and tourism management; gender-responsive and community-based conservation approaches.
6) Delineation of the boundary of the Tanguar Haor Ecologically Critical Area (ECA) for Gazette Notification based on cadastral information.
7) Identify necessary measures to restore habitats and maintain them in favorable ecological condition. Recommend long-term maintenance strategies.
8) Develop a monitoring plan to monitor ecological status, and enforcement measures to ensure compliance with conservation targets agreed by the management authority.
9) Revisit the Tanguar Haor related Ecotourism Guidelines and update the Ecotourism Guideline to protect Tanguar Haor wetland ecosystem. |
| Experience, Resources and Delivery Capacity Required |
: |
1. At least 15 years experiences on handling and delivering similar kind of assignment on environmental and wetlands related studies.
2. Firm have the experts on Ecologist, Floral & Faunal biodiversity, GIS & RS, Wetlands Resources Expert, Geo-Spatial Survey Expert, Economic Valuation Expert (Environmental Economist), Socio-economist, Experts on Preparing Conservation Management Plan (CMP) of wetlands with a Team Leader of Proven ability having extensive experiences on leading the teams for similar assignments, including wetlands and ECAs, PAs, natural resources or wetland management planning and implementation. The firm having the in-house expert will be preferable for accomplishment of the tasks.
3. Good track record for undertaking similar assignments in Bangladesh.
4. Demonstrated command over working with Government of Bangladesh (GoB).
5. Completion of at least 2 similar contracts within last 10 years. |
