INFORMATION FOR APPLICANT

| Brief Description of Assignment |
: |
The activities of the Bioengineer for supporting PMU and PD-LGED will include, but not limited to the following:
(i) Overall coordination and supervision of project implementation from environmental aspect,
(ii) Review and endorsement of Environment portion of the Environmental and Social (ES) assessments/instruments/documents,
(iii) Support and supervision of ESMP and another applicable plan implementation,
(iv) Provide bio engineering solutions including design, specification, detailed drawings, and cost estimate.
(v) Monitor the implementation of the proposed bio engineering solution.
(vi) Quality assurance of the bio engineering solution.
(vii) Provide guidance to the design engineer regarding bio engineering solutions.
(viii) Ensure the addition of BoQ items related to bio engineering solution.
(ix) Monitor and supervision of Environment, Health, and Safety during civil works.
(x) Oversee the environmental monitoring activities,
(xi) Ensure the regular and timely update of the Environmental issues, points and reports in the ICT monitoring systems.
(xii) Overall monitoring and reporting.
(xiii) Management of contractual obligation on environmental safeguard.
(xiv) Provide guidance to environmental safeguard team/personals under design and supervision firm.
(xv) Technical advice to Project Director (PD), Any other tasks assigned by the Project Director. |
| Experience, Resources and Delivery Capacity Required |
: |
? Bioengineer will have minimum masters in civil/environmental engineering
? Environmental Science, or equivalent relevant degree is desirable, minimum Bachelor’s in the above-mentioned subject is a must
? At least 10 years of minimum experience as Civil/Environment Engineer, Environmental Science, Environmental Planner or related field, and at least 5 years of experience as Environmental Consultant in conducting environmental assessments of road, water, wastewater or other infrastructure sector of similar nature and complexity. Specific experience in bio engineering is preferred.
? Experience must include at least one ADB or other development partner funded project;
? Expertise in the hilly area is preferred.
? Prior experience preparing Environmental and Social Management Frameworks (ESMFs). Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs), and Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs) or in accordance with ADB Safeguard Policy requirements is a plus.
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Bangla and English. And
? Reporting and other requirements as stated in the TOR. |

The duration of the contract is expected to be 48 (Forty-Eight) Months
The Project Director now invites eligible candidate(s) to indicate their interest in providing the services.
