Brief Description of Assignment |
: |
The COVID-19 recession is a major ongoing global economic crisis which has caused both a recession in some nations, and in others a depression. It is currently the worst global economic crisis since the Great Depression. The Bangladesh economy is losing Tk 33 billion every day from its service and agriculture sectors during the nationwide shutdown over the coronavirus outbreak. The healthcare facilities in the country are limited to serve its 160 million-plus population. Initially Bangladesh’s capacity to test for corona virus infection and to isolate and treat patients confirmed to have COVID-19 is restricted by only public health infrastructure. Later it has been extended to private facilities. “Overburdened” at the best of times, this infrastructure is in no position to meet the challenges posed by COVID-19. The aim of the study is to find out the direct and indirect cost of treating the Covid-19 in Bangladesh during the year 2020 as well as to estimate the economic burden of Covid-19 from societal perspective (i.e., both household and hospital) in Bangladesh during the year 2020 |
