The duties include, but are not necessarily limited to:
• Develop scope of work and work program for managing social risks and impacts, and promoting social and gender inclusion, beneficiary participation and grievance redress in the process of design and implementation of project activities in compliance with the national legal framework and the World Bank policy and guidelines;
• Review needs assessment report, discuss findings/suggestions, stakeholder consultations and agree on the way forward with the Project Director and his team;
• Set targets of social inclusion, beneficiary engagement, gender equality and managing gender-based violence and devise work-plan with timelines for achieving those targets and implement the work plan;
• Update the Social Management Plan (SMP) and the Gender Action Plan (GAP) following the ESMF with timeline and process for achieving the targets under a set institutional and implementation arrangement;
• Contribute to activities for advocacy, dissemination and knowledge building on social development in the project intervention areas.
• Analyse the capacity building needs relating to the social and gender development along the value chain and develop training material and training courses including creating a national pool of gender experts;

Technical and Functional Experience
At least 20 years of general experience and 15 years of experience related to management of social risks and impacts, involuntary resettlement and gender equity and equality management across sectors preferably in the agriculture/livestock sectors, with demonstrated ability to engage in community-driven approaches. Demonstrated and solid experience in the Bangladesh rural context and familiarity with the gender issues, gender mainstreaming, gender equality and women’s empowerment is required.
Languages: Fluency in written and spoken Bangla and English is required.
