INFORMATION FOR APPLICANT
|
| Brief Description of Assignment |
: |
The duties include, but are not necessarily limited to:
• To develop a work plan and ensure implementation of project activities in coordination with DLS and other relevant entities in dairy value chain development
• To liaise with the Livestock knowledge platform to carry out (i) a mapping of dairy supply chains in the country (main production and processing hubs, transport routes and markets), and (ii) a stakeholder analysis along value chains for main markets in the country.
• In collaboration with the project team and diary processing companies, to identify and select high potential zones for the placement of Village Milk Collection Centers (VMCCs)
• To develop training material to (i) support dairy operations with respect to its cost structure and margins, production and raw milk procurement process, animal husbandry practices, hygiene and other relevant issues and make practical improvement recommendations (ii) to improve capacity among local extension officers who are associated with each farm, and who will be responsible for maintaining farmer support once the project has finished;
• To ensure coordination with project implementation teams in supporting hubs activities and supervise the development of dairy hubs schemes.
• To carry out any other activities related to value chain development
Reporting: To submit monthly progress reports on implementation approaches, challenges/issues and ways forward.

| Experience, Resources and Delivery Capacity Required |

Educational Qualification:
Master’s degree in Animal Husbandry or Dairy Technology or other area that provides the necessary analytical and technical skills. Candidates having PhD along with extensive field experience will get preference.
Technical and Functional Experience:
• A minimum of 15 years practical experience in the field of animal husbandry, including dairy sector experience in Bangladesh;
• Twenty (20) years’ of relevant experience will be an added advantage;
• Appropriate qualifications and/or experience in farm management, extension, or rural development.
• At least 10 years' experience in practical animal farm management, through farming and/or farm advising.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with small- medium scale animal farming technology and management practices and in agribusiness and value chain development.
• Proven experience in extension programme design and management, and training programme design and management.
• Proven experience in capacity building and supporting the implementation of rural development projects, including the mentoring of project implementation staff.
• Sufficient skill on computer operations;
• Ability to work under pressure and good interpersonal skills to integrate in teamwork;

• Persons who are already in services of the Republic or the local authorities/Corporation etc. must have written certification from their employer/ office head confirming no objection to allow for work full-time outside (on lien) of their official position.
