Antibiotic resistance is a burning issue in medical science as well as a growing public health concern across the world. However, in Bangladesh, it is a very common practice to sell and use antibiotics without a prescription. So, there is possibility of misuse of antibiotic that may create huge economic burden on individuals. Owing to this, the Health Economics Unit of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has decided to conduct a study on patient awareness of rational use of antibiotics and its resistance. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the awareness about antibiotic resistance among providers and users as well as to identify the potential challenges to minimize the resistance. The result of the study will help the policy maker to revise the ongoing guideline regarding antibiotic use and resistance. |
